Crafting My Happiness: A Journey of Passion, Purpose, and Pinpoint Balance
I have decided to open up my world and share the beautiful, messy, and utterly fulfilling journey of a crafter's life. We all know the joy of a finished piece, but what about those moments when inspiration falters, online shops challenge us, or we simply feel lost on our creative path? If you have been there, you are in good company.
My hope is to inspire you with my creations, share my perspective on the ups and downs I have been through, and ultimately, explain why I am so incredibly happy right where I am. It has been a long and winding road to get here, but every stitch and bead has been worth it.

Every Little Thing Matters: Time, Balance, and Being Present
Let's talk about our most precious commodity: time. I am an accountant part-time, which takes up a significant chunk of my day. Yet, I always carve out moments for crafting, reading, learning, or writing. Honestly, I have never had a moment where I felt like I had "nothing to do," and I absolutely love that!
Beyond my passion for crafting, I am also a wife, a mom, and I make time for exercise. With so much on my plate, achieving balance has become my superpower. I have learned that I can not devote an entire day to just one thing. Instead, I break down my "to-dos" into small, manageable pieces, like slices of a delicious cake.
The key? Being 100% present in whatever I am doing. At work, my goal is always to be quick, precise, and highly efficient. With limited time, I focus on maximizing every moment to get things done effectively. When I take a quick walk, I focus entirely on the fresh air and movement. Movie night with my husband means no phone distractions. And when I am reading with my daughter, she gets my full attention, making that time truly hers. This focus extends to my crafting too; sometimes, my husband takes our daughter for a bike ride for instance, giving me precious, uninterrupted creative time. That is when my life truly feels in sync. Beyond work, I also make sure to physically relax and maintain a healthy lifestyle to stay fit and fresh, ensuring balance during and at the end of each day.

My Sanctuary: Where Creativity Unfolds
What I love most about creating is that it is my safe nest, my personal escape. Stepping into my little workspace, surrounded by the beautiful materials I have lovingly collected over the years, pouring a cup of coffee, and putting on some soothing music—that is where the magic begins.
When I start a new project, my first thought is not about what others might like. It has to appeal to me first. Would I wear it? Would this piece bring me joy? Only then does the true creative process unfold.
The Spark: How My Crafting Journey Began
From childhood, I have been utterly fascinated by beads, craft accessories, and all things handmade. The crafting world offers a thousand paths, and finding your niche can be challenging. While I would love to make everything, I quickly realized that is simply not feasible—there is not enough time, money for materials, or space!
That is why it is crucial to discover what you love creating most and what you are truly good at. When you are sourcing new materials, always start small. Buy a little to experiment, learn from your mistakes, and then gradually build your collection. As you begin to sell or gift your work, people will offer feedback, guiding you toward what resonates with your audience.
For me, it was always earrings. But fabric necklaces truly captured my heart, thanks to my mother, a dressmaker. Our home was always overflowing with beautiful fabrics. One day, my cousin showed me a fabric rosette necklace her brother bought her for her birthday. Knowing my access to fabrics, she suggested I try making them. I seized the opportunity, delved into learning the craft, and discovered a deep passion for it. My first creations? My mother and friends absolutely adored them!
The Power of Your Inner Circle: Why Feedback is Gold
I am constantly observing trends, studying techniques through videos, reading articles from successful creators, and most importantly, listening to my family and friends. Their opinions, especially in the early stages, are incredibly helpful.
My husband, for instance, has a remarkable eye for art. He had look at my jewelry and offer honest, sometimes critical, feedback. "Adjust those little roses," he did say, "they look like tangled balls, not realistic petals!" lol.. He even experimented with techniques alongside me to perfect the tiny details. And when a piece was finally finished, his encouragement—telling me it was beautiful and suited me—was truly uplifting.
I have also found it invaluable to ask customers for their thoughts, sometimes even asking, "What would you change?" I once had an incredibly creative customer, who became a friend, not only suggest a different shape but actually draw it out for me, saying, "This is a necklace I would love to wear. Could you make it?" That kind of direct, creative feedback is priceless. I truly appreciate when my customers are creative and know exactly what they want; I adore making custom jewelry.
The confidence boost from your loved ones can be a powerful catalyst for your creations. That is why I believe before you even think about launching your work to a wider market, you should share what you do with a few trusted people. Show them your pieces in person, or send photos and videos. Their genuine opinions will serve as a mirror for improvement, helping you learn from any mistakes.
Beyond feedback, practice is your best teacher. You will create a few items, and weeks later, you will look back and chuckle at how you made them! You will constantly improve because crafting is a skill honed through consistent practice and observation.
A Glimpse Inside My Craft Room
As you can see from the photos, I am a serious collector of materials. I sometimes feel like a little mouse gathering nuts, so afraid of being "hungry" for inspiration later! But it is more than that; having a wide variety allows my creativity to truly roam free. There is pure joy in opening a new bag of beads and simply gazing at them—I could do that forever!
For jewelry
making, having the right essentials is key: pliers, wires, a glue gun, sewing
threads, professional scissors and so on. When I have everything I need, that
is when beautiful creations truly come to life.
